Vintage Knitting Picture of the Month

To toss or to keep.  That is the question I ask myself every time I see my knitting magazines.  This is one of a collection I found on eBay.  It is vintage (and so am I).  Botany College Hand Knits was published in MCMLVIII, which if my Roman Numeral teachings from grade school serve me, was 1958.  Cute pic, right?

Simply Mink Scarf (it's the better than your grandmother's mink stole)

That's right, Simply Mink Scarf is made with Mink.  No, they don't have to hurt the minks, the minks get a vigorous brushing and the fibers are used, along with mohair and cashmere, to create this rich yarn with a depth of color like no other.  When knitted into this scarf, the result is elegant and sophisticated.  Enjoy the luxury of Mink without the guilt!

Find the pattern on the new Scarves page.

Rainy Day knitting patterns

That's right, it's raining...all day, so far and it's already 2:00 pm.  So, I found this adorable sock pattern that will make your day.  Say, "Goodbye" to dreariness and, "Hello" to new these cute socks!  Thank you Sandy for this great pattern.  I can't wait to try it out!  Now, if I could only get out of work early and head to the yarn store.

I live in Central Florida and it is in the 30's today.  Yes, it will be back to the 70's tomorrow, but today, it's winter.  Haul out the boxes of winter hats, gloves, scarves, mittens, blankets, afghans, pashminas...anything to add a layer of warmth.  You'll find them stuffed in the back of the bureau drawer, high up in the closet, hidden in a box under the bed, stuffed in the attic or, molding in the basement (that's for you Northerners).  Don't have any?  PERFECT!  Now, go buy some yarn and knit these absolutely precious Puppet Mittens!
